Use your authentic voice

I consistently coach my clients to find and cultivate their authentic voice. And to bring it to all their conversations.

Recently, I saw the worst example of NOT doing this, when one of the presidential candidates addressed a group of his supporters with these words, "Y'all did it for me. Y'all did it. I ain't a socialist. I ain't a plutocrat..."

Please - who is fooled by this? Everyone knows that this highly educated man doesn't normally use words like "y'all" and "ain't". And is it going to help him win friends and influence people?

I say no. It made him look less than genuine. And not at all authentic.

Always speak in your own voice and craft your words to form meaningful connections. Don't think a fake accent or an exhibition of poor grammar will do that for you. Use your authentic voice. #authenticvoice
